The Department of Biological Sciences (DBS), located at the picturesque Colaba campus of TIFR on the southern-most tip of the island city of Mumbai, India, was established in the 1960s as the erstwhile Molecular Biology Unit by Professor Obaid Siddiqi. DBS has since expanded to engage with diverse aspects of modern biology, capitalizing on a gamut of model organisms and state-of-the-art tools and approaches. We are a vibrant community of 11 faculty and more than 100 researchers including scientific officers, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students.

This mid-term selection is distinct from the ongoing GS-2024 selections.
Applicants have to be JRF-qualified in CSIR-UGC NET/DBT-BET/ICMR or in the top 5th percentile of GATE in any branch of Biology/Chemistry/Pharmacy. They should also have a Master’s degree in any branch of Biology/Physics/Chemistry/Computer Science OR a 5-year degree (e.g. MBBS, BDS) OR a professional Master’s Degree (MPharm/MTech) by the program start date.
