Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar, an autonomous institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India invites applications from eligible Indian Nationals for the following project positions.
Principal Investigator : Dr. P.Prasad, Scientist-E, ILS, Bhubaneswar
Projects Title : “National Wastewater Surveillance System for COVID-19”.
Project duration : The project duration is for one year with a possible extension
Position : 1. Project Associate-II : Bioinformatics (01 position)
2. Project Associate-II : Wet lab (01 position)
Remuneration : Rs. 35,000/- per month + @16% HRA
Job Specification :
Position 1 – The person should be responsible for analyzing next-generation sequencing data.
Position 2 – To carry out nucleic acid extraction from sewage samples, library preparation, and performing next-generation sequencing.
Eligibility & Selection : Candidates having M.Sc. / M.Tech / M.Pharm. / M.V.Sc. or equivalent qualification in Life Sciences or allied subjects (Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics/ Computational Biology, Microbiology, etc.) with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (relaxation will be given as per GOI guideline) with 2 years of experience in research work are eligible to apply.
Preference will be given to national-level entrance test (NET/GATE/GPAT) qualified candidates. For non-NET/GATE candidates, the fellowship would be applicable as per DST guidelines. For bioinformatician, the knowledge of programming language, R-Bioconductor, NGS data analysis along with research experience will be preferred.
Age Limit : The candidate should be below 35 years in age as on 25.01.2023. An age relaxation will be given as per Govt. of India rules.
Position: 3. Laboratory Technician (02 position)
Remuneration : Rs. 20,000/- per month + @16% HRA
Job Specification : Waste water sample collection, handling, processing, data management, and support to other students
Eligibility & Selection : B.Sc. in any branch of Life Science or 3 years diploma in Engineering and technology. Candidates having working experience
in biological research laboratories will be preferred. The person should be proficient in using Microsoft word and excel.
Selection will be carried out through application screening, followed by an interview process.
