National Chemical Laboratory Pune, established in 1950, is a constituent laboratory of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). CSIR-NCL is a science and knowledge based research, development and consulting organization. It is internationally known for its excellence in scientific research in chemistry and chemical engineering as well as for its outstanding track record of industrial research involving partnerships with industry from concept to commercialization.

Title of Project : Metabolic Engineering Strategies For Production Of High Value Indolocarbozole Drug Molecules

Minimum prescribed educational Qualifications : Master's Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences/MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent; and (ii) Eight (8) years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities and services; OR ME /M.Tech in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University or equivalent with Six(6) years’ experience in R&D in industrial and Academic Institutions or S&T Organizations and Scientific activities and services; OR i) Doctoral Degree in Science/Engineering/Technology/Pharma/MD/MS from a recognized University or equivalent; and (ii) Four(4) years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities and services
Desirable experience, if any :
Prior hands-on experience in working either with
(i) Python, Perl and/or other programming languages
(ii) Bioinformatics fundamentals
(iii) Genome scale metabolic model reconstruction and analysis
(iv) Pathogen model analysis
(v) Techniques- Constraint based Flux balance analysis, Flux variability analysis, pathway analysis, elementary mode analysis
(vi) Integration of constraints from OMICS data into metabolic models
(vii) Familiarity with Biological Databases
(viii) Softwares - ScrumPy , CobraPy
(ix) Host-Pathogen interaction Metabolism
(x) Natural language processing methods for data and text mining
(xi) Data analysis packages in R
(xii) Analytical and logical thinking
(xiii) Good Communication, Collaborative, Teamwork, Flexibility, Patience
(xiv) Willingness to learn, grow and adapt
(ix) Prior publication record in this research area
(x) Excellent written and verbal communication required with exceptional organizational skills
(xii) Resident of Pune or willingness to relocate immediately to Pune

Job requirement :
(i) Metabolic network reconstruction of host organisms and indolocarbazole pathways for metabolic engineering
(ii) Implementation of ScrumPy and CobraPy
(iii) Constraints based modelling and flux balance analysis

Consolidated emoluments per month : (i) 49,000/- + HRA
The engagement will be initially for a period of six months which may be extended or curtailed depending on the duration of the tenure of sponsored project / satisfactory performance or conduct of the appointee, as the case may be. The engagement will be purely on temporary basis and shall not be CSIR/NCL appointment, temporary or otherwise and shall not entitle the appointee to any right/claim whatsoever, implicit or explicit, for his/her consideration against any CSIR-NCL post/fellowship.

The prescribed educational qualifications are a bare minimum and merely possessing of same will not entitle candidates to be called for interview. Where number of applications received in response to this Notice of engagement is large, it may not be convenient or possible to interview all the candidates. Based on the recommendation of the Screening Committee, the Project Leader may restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview to reasonable limits after taking into consideration qualifications and experience over and above the minimum qualifications prescribed in the Notice. Therefore, it will be in the interest of the candidates, to mention all the qualifications and experience in the relevant field on date of advertise.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to appear before the Selection Committee for an online interview. For online interview URL link will be provided to shortlisted candidate later via email on or before 28/01/2022.
Interview will be conducted on 31/01/2022 from 09:30 AM onwards online through a suitable medium such as Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Cisco WebEx etc.
No interview call letter will be issued separately. No TA/DA will be admissible for appearing for the interview. Selected candidates will have to join duty immediately on receipt of the offer of engagement
