PETA India, based in Mumbai, was launched in January 2000. It operates under the simple principle that animals are not ours to experiment on, eat, wear, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way, while also educating policymakers and the public about animal abuse and promoting an understanding of the right of all animals to be treated with respect.

Job Description :
• Independently research and interpret a variety issues related to reducing and replacing animal testing, particularly when required by regulatory agencies
• Secure and lead meetings with companies and government agencies to discuss the implementation of animal-free testing approaches
• Attend scientific conferences and collaborate with scientists on specific issues relating to animal and non-animal testing methods
• Obtain the necessary information for writing factsheets, reports, and other documentation
• Identify opportunities to provide public comments or recommendations that promote alternatives to animal testing and lead the writing and presentation of these comments
• Analyse technical data and scientific literature and write technical papers for a global audience in the English language
• Translate scientific terminology into lay terms for a global audience in the English language
• Routinely represent the organisation in dealings with state and central government agencies, public- and private-sector organisations, scientific forums and committees, multinational companies, media, advocacy and special-interest groups
• Coordinate with various PETA India departments and colleagues and with PETA affiliates as necessary to advance PETA India's work to end animal testing around the globe
• Perform any other duties, as required, in order to advance PETA India's work to end animal testing
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Candidate Profile :
• Ph.D. in toxicology, pharmacology, molecular biology or a related field
• Extensive knowledge of animal and non-animal testing and scientific terminology
• Exceptional public-speaking skills (in English and Hindi)
• Exceptional writing and research skills (in English)
• Familiarity with Indian and international regulatory agencies
• Ability to interact effectively with diverse groups of scientists and media representatives
• Ability to analyse and interpret complex technical documents
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
• Ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines
• Ability and willingness to travel
• Support for PETA's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA's positions
• Commitment to the objectives of the organisation
