Job Description :
The Head – Research Informatics will be responsible for the scientific and operational excellence, as well as commercial success, of Syngene’s Research Informatics division. The Head – Research Informatics reports directly to the Head of Discovery Services, and as a member of the Discovery Services Leadership Team (DSLT) shares responsibility with the Heads of Discovery Chemistry, Discovery Biology, and Safety Assessment, in leading Discovery Services as a fully integrated research organization, with a focus on preclinical therapeutic discovery and development. The successful candidate must demonstrate exceptional abilities to develop and propel novel business strategies in computational sciences (products and services). Furthermore, the Head will lead, manage, and mentor informatics colleagues, while fostering a spirit of collaboration across each of the Syngene Business Unites (BUs) and enabling functions. The Head will have extensive, direct client engagement and must drive Research Informatics to achieve client aims in the most scientifically rigorous and expedient manner possible. Finally, the Director must ensure that the health and growth of Discovery Services translates directly into broader benefit across the entire Syngene organization.

Primary Responsibilities
• Direct the strategy, growth, and financial performance of a global practice of Bioinformatics, Cheminformatics, R&D Informatics, and Data Science experts representing data products and services, professional services, and consultative offerings
• Pioneer the creation of a novel business strategy to place Syngene as a go-to, leading edge provider of informatics and AI solutions
• Lead the application of Research Informatics capabilities in the context of cross-functional collaboration within Syngene’s integrated drug discovery function to advance novel target identification and validation, therapeutic discovery across multiple modalities, and preclinical and clinical development
• Oversee the development of concept notes and proposals representing optimal solutions to customer needs, with responsibility for content, methodology, project plan, and pricing. Collaborate with additional functions to support all elements proposal elements, including Commercial Services
• Support thought-leadership and market development by speaking at and contributing to pharmaceutical and biotechnology conferences in the areas of Bioinformatics, Cheminformatics, R&D Informatics, and Data Sciences related to drug, biomarker, and related fields
• Monitor projects, milestones, and deliverables to ensure all customer agreements are met on time and within specification, and that delivery processes are optimized to meet or exceed customer expectations
• Develop and continue refinement of market trend analyses, understanding of competitor offerings, and identification of partners and alliance channels to support strategic partnership strategies
• Travel: It is expected this position travels up to 50%, including international travel

Candidate Profile
• Ph.D. / Post Doc in Life Science Field (Biology, Chemistry, Bioinformatics, Cheminformatics, Data Sciences)
• MBA additionally desirable
• Minimum 15 years of working experience with a successful track record of creating novel business strategies for growing a scientific-based consulting or services business, preferably with international experience
• Working knowledge of content, analysis methods, and applications that are used in therapeutic discovery preclinical research, translational medicine, and clinical science domains
• Commercial acumen, with the ability to identify new prospects and penetrate new accounts, and to teach other team members on consultative approaches to developing new business
• Familiarity with market trends in both commercial organizations and academic institutions working in the fields of bioinformatics, R&D informatics, and data science
• Team leadership experience with proven ability to communicate with key customer and internal stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
• Ability to work across BUs and cross-functionally at senior leadership levels
• Strong interpersonal influencing and collaboration skills to work in a team-oriented, matrix environment, and the ability to work through conflicts
• Excellent management skills, including the ability to set goals, define priorities, manage individual / team performance, demonstrated ability to organize people and activities to achieve goals
• Strong entrepreneurial skills to advance research objectives and establish partnerships and collaborations
• Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities
