NIAB, an autonomous institute under the aegis of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, is aimed to harness novel and emerging biotechnologies and create knowledge in the cutting edge areas for impr oving animal health and productivity. The Institute’s research focus is on animal genetics and genomics, transgenic technology, reproductive technology, infectious diseases, nutritional enrichment, and bioinformatics. The Institute aims at translational r esearch leading to genetic enhancement of Indian Livestock species and development of novel vaccines, diagnostics and improved therapeutic molecules for farm animals. The Institute plans to promote bio entrepreneurship by providing supportive and stimulati ng academic and creative environment for commercial tenants involved in the development of farm animal based products and services.

One position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) against DBT funded project entitled “Random and targeted mutagenesis of zoonotic pathogen Leptospira interrogans: in perspective of vaccine development”, PI: Dr. Syed Mohd Faisal, Scientist-D (Duration - 1 year).
Essential qualification: Post Graduate Degree in life sciences with NET qualification or Post Graduate degree in professional course. (Eligibility criteria as per DST OM No.SR/S9/Z-09/2012 dated 21.10.2014). However Non-NET candidates can also apply who will be paid as per their eligibility. Candidate with experience in molecular biology and Immunological techniques and animal (mice, hamster) handling is desirable. Candidates having prior experience in working with Leptospira will be preferred. Fellowship amount: Rs.25000/-PM+30% HRA = 32,500/- PM as per the DST guidelines.
Age: 28 years (Relaxation is admissible in case of SC/ST/OBC candidates as per Government instructions)

Post Graduate Degree in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology/Computer Sciences with NET qualification or Post Graduate degree in professional courses. (Eligibility criteria as per DST OM No.SR/S9/Z-09/2012 dated 21.10.2014). However Non NET candidates can also apply who will be paid as per their eligibility. Candidate with experience in Database design and development, web-interface development, computational biology and bioinformatics is desirable. Candidates from veterinary background with knowledge of bioinformatics are encouraged to apply.
