Clinical research courses

Founded in 1883, Auckland is the country’s largest university with over 40,000 students, nearly 10,000 of whom graduate annually. The main campus is in the heart of Auckland city and we have four specialist campuses.

A three year PhD Scholarship ($27,500 Stipend and Fees) is offered now at University of Auckland for research into the processing and dynamic control of light processing (frequency, power, beam splitting) to create designed surface properties on material substrates. These surfaces are sought for a broad range of export markets by New Zealand’s high value manufacturing sector.

The PhD candidate will join a strong multi‐disciplinary team in the Photon Factory based in Faculty of Science and work collaboratively with the NZ Product Accelerator programme based in the Faculty of Engineering at Newmarket. Supervisors are Professor Cather Simpson and Professor Mark Taylor.

The successful applicant will have a mechatronics, control and/or software background and a strong interest in the science of light and its application to materials transformation.

Please send your application to Dr. Claude Aguergaray at c.aguergaray@auckland.ac.nz before February 1st 2017.
