The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh was conceived in 1960 as a center of excellence which would endeavour to develop patterns of teaching in postgraduate medical education in as many branches as possible and attempt to produce specialists in several disciplines of medicine. It was also envisaged that these specialists would spread out in the country in various medical colleges and medical institutions and impart medical education of highest standard to the students and set up nucleus of excellence in their own institutions. The PGIMER was also given the responsibility to broaden the horizons of medical knowledge by intensive research in the field of health.
Post : Junior Research Fellow
Two positions of Junior Research Fellow is required in the two research projects funded by Lady Tata Memorial Trust, Mumbai, in Department of Radiotherapy and oncology in collaboration with department of Biochemistry, PGIMER, Chandigarh. Title of the projects
Project 1 :
Tracking Driver Mutations via sequential genomic profiling of Circulating Tumour Cells (CTCs) and Circulating Tumour DNA(ctDNA) in Cervical Cancer and their correlation with disease out come.
Project 2 :
Impact of elective para-aortic nodal radiotherapy on Human papillomavirus (HPV) circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) kinetics in patients with cervical cancer: A nested biomarker discovery study in a RCT
Essential qualification : Post Graduate degree in Basic Science OR Graduate / Post Graduate degree in Professional course selected through a process described through one of the following :
a. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility tests- CSIR/UGC NET/ GATE including lectureship
b. The selection process through National level examination as DST, DBT, ICMR etc.
Desirable qualification :
For Project 1 : Wet lab experience in handling blood and tissue samples
For Project 2 : Experience in patient handling
Job Profile :
For Project 1 : Recruitment of patients from OPD, Collection of blood Isolation of cell free DNA and CTCs and experimental work in the laboratory.
For Project 2 : Recruitment of the patients and following up in the clinical trial
Age : 27 (Relaxations will be given as per norms for SC/ST/OBC/female candidates)
Salary / Stipend : 37000/- (+ HRA@20%)
