Established in 1984, the Institute of Microbial Technology is one among the chain of 37 national laboratories, 6 units and 39 outreach centres of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. Set-up to be a fore-runner in the niche domain of microbial biotechnology, the Institute in its initial years functioned from a start-up laboratory that provided a truly world-class R&D ambience in an area of over 10,000 sq. ft. to its researchers.
Position (Post no. 1-12) : Project Associate-I (PAT-I) = 12
Project Titled : “Towards discovery and development of novel drugs and Pharmaceuticals”

Essential Qualification :
Masters / Integrated Masters in Natural or Agricultural or Pharmaceutical Sciences / MVSc / Animal Sciences OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University
OR
Any equivalent qualifications duly recognized by the concerned authority as per the functional requirement of the Project to be recorded in writing by PI and Director
Desirable qualifications
Post no. 1-6 : Experience in handling microbes, identification, characterization and preservation. Knowledge and exposure to molecular biology techniques i.e. DNA isolation, PCR etc will be an asset.
Post no. 7- 8 : Experience in microbial genomics and metagenomics
Post no. 9 : Experience with molecular biology/protein purification/BSL3 lab
Post no. 10 : Experience in handling the clinical strains in BSL-2/3, bio-molecular separation, Small molecule purification, molecular docking, etc. will be given preference
Post no 11 : Experience in fermentation/bioprocess development/ microbiology related projects in academia or industry. Experience in handling marine microbe will be an added advantage
Post no 12 : Experience in molecular biology/cell Biology
Upper Age limit (years) - 35 years Relaxation in the age limit for the candidates belonging to the category of SC/ST/PwBD/Women and the category of OBC shall be 05 years and 03 years respectively.
Monthly Emoluments : (i) Rs. 31,000/- +HRA for those candidates who have qualified CSIR- UGC/ICAR/ICMR NET incl. lectureship/assistant professorship or GATE OR those who have qualified National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments like DBT/DST or equivalent and/or their Agencies/Institutions.
(ii) Rs. 25,000/- +HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above
