Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) a Public Sector Undertaking of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, and Government of India has been entrusted the responsibility of implementing this Program. It will house the Program Management Unit (PMU) that would work as an operational and functional arm to oversee and monitor program implementation.

Consolidated Remuneration : The consolidated fee for Associate Consultant shall be Rs. 75,000/- per month.
Duration : The engagement is contractual initially for a period of one year which is extendable based on performance and organizational priorities.
Job Description : The Candidate shall work with IP & Tech Management division of BIRAC where he/she shall work on various project such as patent and non-patent prior art searching & analysis, infringement analysis, white space analysis, freedom-to-operate searches, Patent Landscape searches & analysis, market research & competitor monitoring.
Essential Qualifications :
M.Sc / M. Tech in Life Sciences / Biotechnology / Pharma / Agri / Plant Sciences from a recognized and reputed institute.
Registered Indian Patent Agent
Desirable Qualifications :
• PhD in life sciences/ Bio Technology/Pharma/Agri/ Plant sciences.
• Degree in Law or Diploma/Degree in Intellectual Property Rights from a recognized and reputed institute.
Experience : Post Qualification between 03 to 10 years with Minimum 03 years of experience in conducting Patent Searches and providing IP services to Central/State Government or Autonomous Institutions or Public Sector Undertakings or KPOs/Companies/Start-ups.
Age Limit : Maximum 45 years as closing date of vacancy.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct Patent Searches & Analysis- Patentability/Freedom-To-Operate (FTO)/ Patent Landscape search by using IP search tools/databases and scientific information resources, including sequence and chemical structure searching.
• Hands-on experience on the uses of various Patent databases
• Devise FTO/other search strategies after understanding the invention/project and provide timely information
• Analyze and summarize search results and provide insightful evaluation and analysis of results
• Prepare reports by performing various patent searches and technical analysis
• Provide support on devising the patent risk mitigation strategies
• Provide opinion/advice on any other matters related to IP
• Undertake any other tasks in furtherance to the fulfilment of her/his responsibilities.
• Protect the secrecy of and avoid disclosure and unauthorized use of the Confidential Information in any forum which includes formal and informal discussion/lectures/publications etc.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Working knowledge of Patent searches & analysis and understanding of technical subject matter.
