The International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), established in 1983, is an international, intergovernmental organisation conceived as a Centre of excellence for research, training and technology transfer to industry in the field of biotechnology to promote sustainable global development. The Centre conducts innovative research in life sciences and strengthens the research capability of its over 60 Member States through training, funding programs and advisory services. Located in Trieste (Italy), New Delhi (India) and Cape Town (South Africa), and in collaboration with over 40 Affiliated Centres worldwide, the three ICGEB Components provide a scientific and educational environment of the highest international standards.
ICMR-funded Project Positions
Project : "Establishment of a centre for advanced research on developing novel inhibitors that target the protein translation machinery of malaria parasite.”
Investigators : Amit Sharma, Anmol Chandele.
Collaborating institutions : IIT-Bombay, CSIR-NCL-Pune, AIIMS-New Delhi.
Salary and Duration : As per ICMR norms dated 1st August 2023 and 14th August 2024.
The project duration is 5 years. Initially, the positions are available for one month and will be extended based on performance.
Project Research Scientist-III (Non-Medical, 78000 Rs + 30% HRA) -1 position : Minimum eligibility - PhD. Experience Required: A scientist skilled in drug discovery and development. Expertise required in animal screening, ADME profiling, toxicology, pharmacokinetics (PK), and pharmacodynamics (PD). Responsibilities include leading preclinical studies, optimizing drug candidates, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to advance projects from discovery to clinical development.
Project Research Scientist-III (Non-Medical, 78000 Rs + 30% HRA) -1 position : Minimum eligibility - PhD. Experience Required: A Scientist with expertise in chemical library screening, synthetic chemistry, and medicinal chemistry to develop next-generation antimalarial therapies. You will design and synthesize novel compounds, screen chemical libraries for potential drug candidates, and optimize lead molecules for efficacy and safety.
Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical, 56000 Rs + 30% HRA) -1 Position : Minimum eligibility - MSc degree. Experience Required: A Scientist skilled in drug discovery and development. Expertise required in animal screening, ADME profiling, toxicology, pharmacokinetics (PK), and pharmacodynamics (PD). Project Technical Support III (28000 Rs + 30% HRA)-1 Position : Minimum eligibility - UG degree Experience Required: In laboratory maintenance, including ordering supplies, inventory, preparing reports, and assisting the research staff with cell culture media preparation, chemical reagents arrangement, sample preparation for data collection, and laboratory procedures associated with the project.
Project Technical Support III (28000 Rs + 30% HRA)-1 Position : Minimum eligibility - UG degree Experience Required: In laboratory maintenance, including ordering supplies, inventory, preparing reports, and assisting the research team with cell culture media preparation, chemical reagents arrangement, sample preparation for data collection, and laboratory procedures associated with the project. Preference will be given to candidates with background in medicinal chemistry.
