Post : JRF / Research Associate (One position – three years)
Applications are invited from suitable candidates for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) to work on the following inter- disciplinary project sponsored by Indian Council for Medical Research, having grant No. IIRP/2023-0481, under the supervision of Dr. Srinivasa Prasad, Dept. of Pharmacy, and Co-PI Prof. Sajeli Begum, Dept. of Pharmacy, BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus.
Title of the project : Natural 1,2-Benzopyrone-based small molecules as therapeutics for drug- resistant epilepsy
Duration of the project : Two years
Fellowship amount : Rs. 71000 per month (Inclusive of HRA)
Scope of Work : Design and synthesis of small molecules followed by ELISA tests to ensure selectivity and specificity. In vivo experiments to test these drugs in epilepsy models and EEG recordings in rats. This will be followed by molecular biology experiments to examine the effects on protein expression
Eligibility requirements :
1. M.Pharm (Pharmacology – First class) with hands-on experience in project and GPAT qualification preferred. Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical chemistry/pharmacology/neuroscience can also apply.
2. Experience in ELISA/ HPLC/ medicinal chemistry/ molecular biology/Neuroscience/electrophysiology- EEG/ small molecule synthesis or animal handling would be an added advantage.
3. Importantly, willingness to learn new techniques or concepts and good written and oral English skills are highly desirable.
