Scientist - C (Medical Genetics)
Tenure of the post : One year
Qualifications : PhD in Human Genetics with 2 years post PhD work/research experience
Desirable to have post - PhD work experience in a diagnostic genetic laboratory and/ or in medical genetics- related research.
Age limit* - Not exceeding 40 years Relaxation upto max. 5 years in case of merit and experience.
Consolidated Salary per month : Rs.75,000/- per month
Job Description :
1. To establish protocols and SOPs for diagnostic molecular genetic and cytogenetic tests.
2. To do first level of validation of all the genetic diagnostic reports.
3. To take care of lab- related logistics.
4. To analyse and interpret advanced genetic tests such as microarray and next generation DNA sequencing.
5. To train and teach students the techniques, principles, analysis and interpretation of genetic laboratory techniques.
6. To develop SOPs for quality control and quality assessment procedures required for a genetic diagnostic laboratory.
7. To write projects for funding agencies and conduct research in the area of medical genetics.
Technical Assistant - molecular Genetics)
Tenure of the post : One year
Qualifications : Essential M.Sc in any Life Sciences / BTech Biotechnology / BTech Genetic Engineering + 1 year work experience in human genetics- related area
Desirable : Work experience/ research experience in medical genetics/ molecular genetics
Age limit : 30 years
Consolidated Salary per month : Rs.35,000/- per month

1. Preparation and staining/banding of slides for karyotyping and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)

1. Applicants should note that the appointment to be made purely on temporary and there is no right for claiming for any regular appointment in NIMS.
2. In case, the services of a particular post are required only for part of a day, the salary payable will also be proportionately adjusted and will be explained at the time of interview.
