National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) was founded by Sir Robert McCarrison in the year 1918 as ‘Beri-Beri’ Enquiry Unit in a single room laboratory at the Pasteur Institute, Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. Within a short span of seven years, this unit blossomed into a "Deficiency Disease Enquiry" and later in 1928, emerged as full-fledged "Nutrition Research Laboratories" (NRL) with Dr. McCarrison as its first Director. It was shifted to Hyderabad in 1958.At the time of its golden jubilee in 1969, it was renamed as National Institute of Nutrition (NIN).

Post : Senior Research Fellow

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the following post under the project entitled “Biomonitoring of Blood Trans-fatty Acid levels in Indians: Baseline data”. The project is funded by CDC Foundation and ICMR-NIN is executing agency.

Essential Qualifications : 1^st Class M.Sc. Biochemistry / Life Sciences / Pharmacy with at least two years research experience in the relevant area. OR M.Sc. Biochemistry/ Life Sciences/ Pharmacy with two years research experience in the relevant area and should have National Eligibility Test (NET)-CSIR-UGC, NET including Lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE. National level examinations conducted by Central Government Department and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD. ICAR. ICMR, NT, MSc, USER, etc.

Desirable : Research Experience in the area of diabetes and its complications, functional foods/formulations, micronutrients, animal experimentation and cell- culture/molecular biology

Nature of duties : Laboratory analysis of blood fatty acids using GC-MS/MS.

Age* : 35 years Age relaxation is admissible as per ICMR guidelines.

Cons. Emoluments : Rs.45,500/- p.m. fixed without any allowances, (as per the MoFPI sanction

Tenure : One year, extendable for one more year based on performance

*Age Concession: Age relaxation is admissible in respect of Retrenched Government Employees, Departmental Candidates (including projects) and Ex-Servicemen in accordance with the instructions issued by the Central Government from time to time. Age concession to the extent of service rendered in other research projects will also be admissible for experienced and skilled persons.

GENERAL CONDITIONS:
The candidates should bring all original certificates of educational qualifications (from SSC onwards), Experience, Aadhaar Card, Community and PH Certificates along with one set of photocopies of the same duly attested (can be self attested) along with a passport size photograph for attending the Written Test/ Interview. The persons belonging to Other Backward Category should bring the latest O.B.C. (Non-creamy layer) Certificate issued by the respective Tahsildar/ MRO specifically issued for the purpose of applying for Central Government Posts. No TA/ DA will be paid for attending the Written Test/ Interview. The recruited project staff is eligible for leave as per rules and will have to give an undertaking before joining. The conditions of employment will be the same as that of the project staff on contract basis. The candidates have no right to claim for any regular employment at this Institute. The Director & Appointing Authority has the right to accept/ reject any application without assigning any reason(s) and no correspondence in this matter will be entertained. Age, qualifications, etc., will be reckoned as on the date of Interview.

Selection Procedure: Interview will be conducted for the eligible candidates after verification of the Certificates. However, if more number of candidates are found eligible for the post advertised, Written Test/ Skill Test will also be conducted on the same day for final round of Interview.

Note: No electronic devices including Calculator and Mobile phones are allowed while entering NIN campus except Pen/ Pencil eraser / writing pad.

Applications will be received from the individuals by hand on the date of Walk-in-Written Test/ Interview between 9:30 A.M. and 10:30 A.M. at National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad. The candidate will not be allowed to enter the Institute after 10:30 A.M. under any circumstances.
