The Government of India, through the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), and based on the recommendation of Scientific Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, decided to create five undergraduate science universities. One of them is located at Kolkata and was started from 2006. Named as the INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE EDUCATION AND RESEARCH (IISER), these IISERs are designed to reach the prestigious position in the global setting that IISc, IIMs and IITs presently enjoy.

Nature and Duration of Appointment: Applications are invited for a Walk-in interview for Project-JRF position in the group of Dr. Rituparna Sinha Roy, at IISER Kolkata. The position is initially available for six months and could be extended upto 1 year, based on the performance and availability of funds. The duty involves solid phase peptide synthesis, structural characterization and its application in the area of medicinal chemistry, therapeutic biomaterial, cancer biology and regenerative medicine.
Minimum Essential Qualification: M.Sc Chemistry having specialization in organic chemistry, or MSc Chemistry with M.Sc project in the area of organic chemistry or MSc in Life Sciences having specialization in Biochemistry/Zoology/Biotechnology/Microbiology /Human Physiology and having Chemistry as one of the pass subjects. Candidate needs to have strong background in chemistry, especially in peptide chemistry. Candidates need to have valid NET-LS certificate or DBT-JRF (category B) certificate or GATE certificate or DST-INSPIRE eligibility document.
Desirable qualification: Prior experience in peptide synthesis.
