The National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS) is an autonomous institution of Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, for a mandate of basic research, teaching & training, and as a national repository for cell lines/hybridomas etc. The Centre is located in the midst of academically enriched environment of Savitribai Phule Pune University Campus, Pune.
NCCS invites applications for following posts on various extramural projects purely on temporary basis.
Senior Research Fellow (SRF)

Name of the Project : Identifying the role of host F-box proteins, a component of E3 ubiquitin ligase complex, in HIV-1 pathogenesis and their potential use as therapeutic target against the virus.
Name of the PI : Dr. Debashis Mitra
Essential Qualification & Experience : Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science or Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following & should have 2 years of research experience. A. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and/or GATE. B. The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER etc.
Desirable Experience : 2 Years research experience as JRF in Mammalian Cell Culture, Molecular Biology and Virology will be necessary for the execution of the project and thus will be preferred.
Project Tenure : Up to 09/06/2027
Total Monthly Emoluments : Rs. 42000 /- + HRA

Senior Research Fellow (SRF)

Essential Qualification & Experience : Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science or Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following & should have 2 years of research experience. A. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and/or GATE. B. The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER etc.
Desirable Experience : The candidate must be acquainted with the complement system and must have worked with macrophages for nearly two years. Project Tenure: Up to 24/11/2025

Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Name of the Project : Deciphering the molecular mechanisms of fluid-phase alternative pathway regulation by complement regulatory protein factor H.

Essential Qualification & Experience : Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science or Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following A. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and/or GATE. B. The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such aas DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER etc.
Desirable Experience : Candidate must have experience working in biochemistry and protein chemistry. He/She must be well equipped with experience of carrying out bioassays and invitro assays related to protein biochemistry.
Project Tenure : Up to 10/10/2027
Total Monthly Emoluments : Rs. 37000/- + HRA

Project Associate - I

Name of the Project : VAPB at membrane contact sites: ALS-FTD at the crossroads of ER stress, proteostasis, lipid homeostasis and inflammation. Name of the PI: Dr. Gaurav Das
Essential Qualification & Experience : Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent.
Desirable Experience : Experience working with Drosophila, including genetic and behavioural experiments.
Project Tenure : Up to 28/02/2029
Total Monthly Emoluments : (i) Rs. 31000/- + HRA to Scholars who are selected through (a) National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE or (b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions. (ii) Rs. 25000/- + HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above.

Project Associate - I

Name of the Project : Identifying the neuron-immune pathways that modulate feeding behavior and metabolism in Drosophila. Name of the PI : Dr. Gaurav Das
Essential Qualification & Experience : Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent.
Desirable Experience : Candidate should have some experience with the following techniques:
a) At least 6 month of lab experience in a neurobiology lab.
b) Proficiency in handling flies as a genetic model organism.
c) Experience in performing behavioral experiments in flies and analyzing data.
Project Tenure : Up to 26/09/2027
Total Monthly Emoluments : Rs. 25000/- + HRA
Age limit : Not more than 35 years as on last date of application.

The duration of offer will be determined based on fund availability.
Other important Points
1. The Director (Additional Charge), NCCS reserves the right to cancel the recruitment process, if required.
2. The prescribed educational qualifications and experience are the bare minimum and mere possession of same does not entitle candidates to be called for Walk in Interviews. The Centre reserves the right to call for Walk in Interviews only those candidates who in its opinion are likely to be suitable.
3. Candidates not having Final / Provisional Degree certificate as per the Essential qualification signed by the Institutional/ University Competent authority are not eligible to apply.
4. The above advertised positions are filled up purely on temporary basis for the limited time on the extramural projects funded by various funding agencies. The position will automatically co-terminus on the completion of the candidate’s tenure. The appointed person shall have no claim of appointment/absorption in funding agency or in NCCS, Pune.
5. Fellowship/Emoluments: Emoluments to the research personnel engaged under project will be made in accordance with the sanction order or latest DST O.M whichever the case may be.
6. Age relaxation for advertised positions will be considered as on the dale of Walk-in Interview. Age relaxation of 5 years in case of Women/SC/ST/PlI candidates and 3 years in case of OBC candidates will be given as per Government of India rules. OBC candidates must produce latest/valid non-creamy layer certificate. Reservation as per Govt, of India norms w ill be followed.
7. No TA/DA will be admissible for attending the interview.
8. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence will be treated as disqualification for the post.
9. The posts advertised shall be need based without any commitment for its filling.
10. Selected candidates will have to join duty within one month of the receipt of offer of appointment.
