RMRC, Gorakhpur is one of the 26 Institutes of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), under Department of Health Research (DHR), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare of Government of India. Initially, in order to understand the problem of persistent acute encephalitis syndrome (AES) in eastern Uttar Pradesh, a Field Unit of ICMR-National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune was established in Gorakhpur in 2008. Since, health indicators of North East region of Uttar Pradesh comprising of 14 districts are prominently poor in comparison to average health indicators of Uttar Pradesh and much lower than the all India figures.

Post : Project Assistant

Applications are invited for the following vacancy under ICMR extramural funded project entitled “Development of diagnostic kit for rapid and early detection of Orientia tsutsugamushi based on isothermal recombinase polymerase amplification and lateral flow analysis”.

Essential Qualification : Graduate in Biotechnology / Microbiology / life sciences/relevant subjects from recognized university with three years’ work experience from a recognized institution (OR) Master degree in Biotechnology/Microbiology/life sciences/relevant subjects

Desirable Qualification and Experience : Having experience in molecular biology and bio-informatics analysis

Emoluments : Rs.31,000/- per month (consolidated)

Age limit : 30 years

Duration : One year (renewable for the project duration subject to performance and project requirement)

Nature of Duties :
a. Perform wet-lab experiments related to project
b. Data analysis
c. Scientific report preparation
d. Assist PI in project management
e. Any other work assigned by PI / Co-PI / Supervisory Officer / Director

Moreover, age relaxation may be considered for deserving and highly qualified/experienced person on recommendation of selection committee.
4. Mere fulfilling the essential qualification/ experience does not guarantee for selection.
5. No TA/DA will be paid either for attending the interview or joining the post.
6. Written test in the subject area will be held, if required to shortlist candidates for the interview on the same day depending upon the number of candidates.
7. The shortlisted candidates for written test/ interview will be informed by email/ ICMR-RMRC, Gorakhpur/ ICMR website.
8. The incumbents selected will have no claim for regular appointments under RMRC, Gorakhpur/ICMR or continuation of his/her services in any other project.
