The mandate of research at NCBS is the study of biology. To realize our goals of understanding living systems, we understand that research problems need to be approached from a variety of directions. We therefore have recruited, and actively encourage applications from researchers with a variety of backgrounds in the natural sciences, mathematics and computer science.  Biological problems not only require multiple approaches for their solution, but also need researchers of varied expertise to collaborate. Collaboration at every level within NCBS, within the country and internationally is strongly encouraged. Post : Senior Animal Facility Caretaker

Job description: 
• Oversee the routine animal husbandry for two facilities (TIGS and ABSL-3 facility) - Provide feed and water for all research animals. Assess health status of research animals periodically in accordance regulations and policies. Report abnormal observations to veterinary staff.
• Assisting with shifting animals from NCBS-ACRC facility to TIGS and ABSL-3 facility.
• Performing routine animal infections in ABSL-2 and ABSL3, handling, monitoring and care of infected animals, necropsy and safe disposal. Perform technical support with levels of containment.
• Assist personnel in the research projects in ABSL2 &ABLS-3 and handling of infected animals, and the pathogenic agents.
• Perform anesthetic induction, maintenance and monitoring of animals.
• Additional tasks include cleaning and disinfecting cages and autoclave operations in ABSL-3 facility.
• Perform procedures requiring various levels of biohazard containment.
• Maintain research animal census for all assigned areas.
• Compile and maintain complete and accurate records, including, but not limited to, animal breeding, health, housing and isolators as per CPCSEA guidelines.
• The Animal Facility is an essential service, so selected Facility Assistant must be ready to work in shifts during Week-Ends and holidays when required as per instructions.

Candidate Profile
BE/B.Tech/M.Pharma/Masters in any biological sciences discipline with minimum one year of experience in Laboratory animal management. The candidate should have knowledge about biohazards and biosafety level 2 & 3. Excellent organization and record-keeping skills

Pay Scale: As per Govt. norms based on experience and qualification.
