Raja Peary Mohan College was founded on 20th June, 1887 by an eminent philanthropist, promoter of education and social reformer in the nineteenth century Bengal - Raja Joykrishna Mukherjee, who was also a benevolent zamindar of Uttarpara in the Hooghly District of West Bengal. The college is situated in a place which is very near to the famous Grand Trunk Road and just on the opposite bank of the Hooghly river of the famous temple of Goddess Kali at Dakshineswar. With thirty one students, Raja Joykrishna Mukherjee established this educational institution with the vision and mission to achieve excellence in higher education. He wanted to empower students with relevant knowledge, competence and creativity, spread female education and practice inclusive growth for socio-economic change and sustainable development for the society.

Post Junior Research Fellow

Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a SERB-funded research project with following details

Title of the project: Translational of molecular mechanism underlying circulating mitochondrial DNA release during cardiac pathological hypertrophy towards therapy of the myocardium (funded by SERB, New Delhi)

Essential qualifications: M.Sc (Zoology / Biotechnology / Genetics / Biochemistry), or equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate score (6.5 grade points on a scale of 10). For SC/ST category, the candidate must have secured a minimum of 55% aggregate score (6.0 grade points on a scale of 10) in Masters’ degree.

Desirable qualifications:
1. The candidate has qualified CSIR / UGC JRF/LS - NET/GATE
2. The candidate has knowledge and experience of Genomics, cell culture and basic molecular biology applications.

Age limit : 28 years

Salary : As per SERB norms

Duration : Three years or up to the termination of project, subject to annual performance review

Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview and no TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. The position is available immediately.

Note: The candidate selected for the position of JRF will have the option to register for PhD program. However, for admission to PhD program, the candidate must meet certain eligibility requirements and also qualify the written examination and interview.
