Applications are invited for the recruitment of various positions on contractual basis with consolidated pay under two DBT sponsored projects entitled, (1) “Chemical profiling of Joha and black rice of Assam for nutritional, nutraceutical parameters and aroma compounds” and (2) “Microbial roles in yield management of scented rice of North East India” at Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST) Garchuk, Guwahati (Assam). Scientist-c/Equivalent
Number of Post: 1
Pay (Consolidated Emolument per Month):
Rs. 66,750 for 1st year
Rs. 70,833 for 2nd year
Rs. 74,916 for 3rd year
Educational Qualification and Experience: PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Zoology (Cell & Molecular Biology) having post-doctoral research experience with at least for three (3) years of experience in the field of herbal/traditional medicine, natural product based drug discovery/development, metabolic syndrome/disease biology. Candidate having high impact papers in reputed journals will be preferred.
Desirable: Sound knowledge and previous experience of working on animal models, evaluation of medicinal plants extracts and isolated compounds etc. Age: Age limit is 35 years. It is relaxable for SC/ST/ Woman candidate as per govt. rule.
Junior Research Fellow
Number of Post: 01
Pay: Pay: 25000 + 20% HRA per month for 1st and 2nd year 28000 + 20% HRA per month for 3rd year Candidates with NETGATE/BET/BINC qualification or degree in professional courses, otherwise (candidates without NET/GATE/ BET/ BINC qualification) Rs.14, 000/+20% HRA per month.
Educational Qualification and Experience: Candidates with M.Sc/M.Tech/M.Pharm degree (with minimum of 55% marks) or equivalent in Natural products/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Zoology (Cell & Molecular Biology) are eligible to apply. Candidates having research experience on natural products/animal model/cell culture techniques/ molecular biology tools are essential.
Age: Age limit is 28 years. It is relaxable for SC/ST/ Woman candidate as per govt. rule.
Senior Research Fellow
Number of Post: 01
Pay: 28,000 + 20% HRA per month (Candidates with NET/GATE/BET/BINC qualification) or degree in professional courses M.Pharm/ M.Tech with two years of research experience.
Rs.14, 000/+20% HRA per month (candidates without NET/GATE/ BET/ BINC qualification).
Educational Qualification and Experience: Candidates with M.Sc/M.Tech/M.Pharm degree (with minimum of 55% marks) or equivalent in Natural products/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Zoology (Cell & Molecular Biology) are eligible to apply. Candidates should have at least two years research experience on Drug development/biochemical assay/animal experimentation/cell culture techniques/ molecular biology tools are essential.
Age: Age limit is 28 years. It is relaxable for SC/ST/ Woman candidate as per govt. rule.
Post of (Project 2): Research Associate
Number of Post: 2
Pay Pay: 36,000 + 20% HRA per month
Educational Qualification and Experience: PhD in Organic Chemistry/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Biotechnology/Microbiology are eligible to apply.

Desirable Qualification: The candidate must possess sound knowledge of use of HPLC, GCMS- MS and plant/molecular profiling. Those candidates with PhD in Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry having some knowledge for growing bacteria in culture, growing plant in growth chamber or show promise of such desirable work on Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and those with Microbiology specialization candidates with some knowledge of HPLC, GC-MS-MS, metabolite profiling and knowledge of plant tissue culture will be given preference.
Age: Age limit is 32 years. It is relaxable for SC/ST/ Woman candidate as per govt. rule.
For all positions, 15%, 7.5% and 27% seats are reserved for SC, ST and OBC (Non Creamy) candidates respectively, subject to availability of such candidates. There shall also be 3% horizontal reservation for physically-handicapped persons (only for locomotor disabilities of lower limbs between 50% to 70% or as per Govt. of India Rules in this regard) subject to availability of such candidates. If suitable candidates are not available under the reserved categories, positions will be filled up by un-reserved category candidates. These criterion are applicable for all three positions mentioned above.
