Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) was established in the year 1989 as an autonomous institute under the administrative control of Govt. of Odisha. In 2002, it was taken over by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India. The Prime Minister of India Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee dedicated the institute to the nation in July 2003. Institute of Life Sciences has a broad vision of carrying out high-quality multidisciplinary research in the area of life sciences.
Post : Project Associate-II: Bioinformatics (01 position)
Projects Title : DBT funded project “Evaluation of genetic diversity of underutilized species of Western Himalayan Bioresources based on molecular and genomic characterization”
Remuneration : Rs. 35,000/- per month + @16% HRA
Eligibility & Selection : Candidates having M.Sc. / M.Tech / M.Pharm. / M.V.Sc. or equivalent qualification in Life Sciences or allied subjects (Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics/ Computational Biology, Microbiology, etc.) with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (relaxation will be given as per GOI guideline) with 2 years of experience in research work are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to national-level entrance test (NET/GATE/GPAT) qualified candidates. For non-NET/GATE candidates, the fellowship would be applicable as per DST guidelines. For bioinformatician, the knowledge of programming language, R-Bioconductor, NGS data analysis along with research experience will be preferred.
Age Limit : The candidate should be below 35 years in age as on 31st August 2023. An age relaxation will be given as per Govt. of India rules.
Job Specification : The person should be responsible for analyzing next-generation sequencing data. Selection will be carried out through application screening, followed by an interview process.
