The National Institute of Plant Genome Research (formerly known as National Centre for Plant Genome Research) is an autonomous institution aided by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The Institute's establishment coincides with the 50th anniversary of India's independence as well as birth anniversary of Prof. (Dr.) J. C. Bose. The formal announcement was made on November 30th 1997. This Institute has already placed India among the major contributors to plant genomics.

Candidates are invited to appear before the selection committee in the online interview for filling up filling up a purely temporary position in the scheme of “Short-Term Research Fellowship” programme, under the supervision of Dr. Gitanjali Yadav, Scientist, NIPGR.

Eligibility: Candidates having a Ph. D. degree in Life Sciences with good academic record (i.e. overall 55% marks throughout the academic career) and at least three years of relevant work experience and published research papers in the journals of International repute are eligible to apply. Experience of working with Molecular biology and field based sample collection and RNA isolation and library preparation for transcriptome sequencing is mandatory. Additional experience in phytochemistry will be preferred.

The Fellowship amount for the above position is at par with the similar fellowships by DBT/DST. The above position is completely on temporary basis with a maximum duration of three years. The initial appointment will be for a period of one year, which can be curtailed or extended based on the performance of the candidate and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidate. Reservation of posts shall be as per Govt. of India norms. The position may be terminated any time by giving a month notice by either side. The applicants will have no claim implicit or explicit for consideration against any regular position of NIPGR.
