Agharkar Research Institute (ARI) is an autonomous, grant-in-aid research institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Goverment of India. It was established in 1946 by the Maharashtra Association for the Cultivation of Science as MACS Research Institute and renamed as ARI in 1992 in honour and memory of its founder Director, late Professor S.P. Agharkar.

Qualifications and Minimum Research Experience after acquiring essential qualification:
For Sc.B, Genetics Group
Essential: (i) 1st class M. Sc. (Agri.) or Botany with specialization in Genetics & Plant Breeding. Desirable: (i) Ph.D., (ii) Knowledge of at least one foreign language (other than English), (iii) 2-3 years research experience of breeding cereal crops preferably in wheat.

For Sc.B, Geology Group
Essential: (i) 1st class M. Sc. in Geology with specialization in Invertebrate Palaeontology. . Desirable: (i) Ph.D., (ii) Knowledge of at least one foreign language (other than English), (iii) research experience in the research laboratory after obtaining M.Sc.

* In case of non-availability of candidates with requisite qualifications and experience for the post of Scientist F, applicants with qualifications having 10 years R&D experience in the same field may be considered for lower grade of Scientist E in PB-4 + GP 8700/- (TME Rs.1,07,820/-).

Institute shall not be responsible for any delay on the part of postal department for delivery of applications even if posted before the last date. 6. The prescribed essential qualifications are a bare minimum and mere possession of the same will not entitle the candidate to be called for interview. In case number of applications received in response to an advertisement is large, it may not be convenient or possible for the Institute to interview all the candidates. The Institute may restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable limit, on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement or by conducting a written test.
