Life Sciences Opportunity in Government of West Bengal funded Project at Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College & Hospital

During its long journey over the last 146 years, Nilratan Sircar Medical College has grown both physically and intellectually. Presently it offers Under Graduate (250 intake annually), Post Graduate (in 19 disciplines) as well as Post Doctoral courses (in 11 disciplines). College also offers M.Sc, B.Sc and Diploma courses in Nursing and as many as ten Para Medical diploma courses. In keeping with norms of the Regulatory Body, the college has as many as eight Lecture Theatres of varying capacities. There is a large Play Ground within the campus. Hostels for UG and PG students, both boys and girls are there as per recommendation of MCI. College also has one large Auditorium in the Academy Building and one State of the Art e-Class Room. Accommodation to External Examiners are provided in a well maintained Guest House within the premises.

Post : Junior Research Fellow (Non- Medical)

Applications are invited for the post one (1) [Temporary]; Junior Research Fellow (Non- Medical) in a Department of Science & Technology and Biotechnology, Government of West Bengal funded (Sanction order no: 1472(Sanc.)/STBT-l 1012(19)/2/2025-ST SEC dated 29.03.2025 R&D project entitled “Development of a Non-Invasive Spectroscopic Device for The Assessment of Urinary Bladder Cancer (UBC) and Large-Scale Clinical Trial for Early Diagnosis” (PI : Dr. Tapan Kumar Mondal, Dept, of Urology, NRSMC&H; Co- PI: Dr. Anjan Kumar Das, Dept, of Pathology, NRSMC&H; Dr. Samir Kumar Pal & Dr. Ranjit Biswas, S N Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata) at the Department of Urology’, Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College & Hospital, Kolkata. The initial appointment is for a period of one year, likely to be extended up to 3 years or till co-terminus with the project, whichever is earlier.

Essential Qualifications : Post Graduate Degree (First Class) in any branch of Life Sciences or related subjects.

Salary / Month (Consolidated as per WBDSTBT, GOWB guidelines) : Rs. 25,000/- per month (First 2 years), and Rs. 30,000/- per month (Last 1 year)

Maximum Age Limit : 32 years as on 25/04/2025 (Age relaxation as per WBDSTBT guidelines)

Job Description
1) Conduct experimental work, data analysis, and documentation related to device development and clinical validation.
2) Support clinical trial coordination, including sample storage, patient data handling, and ethical documentation.
3) Perform literature review and assist in drafting scientific reports, publications, and presentations.
4) Maintain research records, laboratory notebooks, and ensure data integrity.
5) Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team from Department of Urology & Pathology, NRSMC&H and S N Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata.

1) Not all candidates fulfilling minimum criteria will be called for interview. After preliminary screening, only few applicants will be shortlisted and called for interview.
