Post : Consultant - Development of AMR curriculum assessment tools - (2500639)

Job Description
Purpose of consultancy
To contribute to the development of AMR curriculum assessment tools for pharmacy and nursing education; and to support youth engagement and AMR awareness-raising activities.

Background
Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is recognized as one of the top ten global threats, fueled by the misuse and overuse of antimicrobials, as well as lack of access to appropriate treatments for infections. These factors contribute to the rise of drug-resistant pathogens, posing serious challenges to public health and global development. Health workers play a crucial role in preventing AMR and managing drug-resistant infections. To equip future health workers with the necessary skills and knowledge, robust pre-service training is essential. WHO has published several normative documents outlining AMR core competencies and curricula tailored for different health worker cadres. The proposed curriculum assessment tools are meant to facilitate a rapid assessment of the curricula, in a national or university context, for training pharmacists.  As part of the Quadripartite collaboration, WHO is leading on several youth engagement initiatives on AMR. Key initiatives include the Quadripartite Working Group on Youth Engagement for AMR and AMR Toolkit for Youth Engagement. Expanding and strengthening these initiatives is essential to mobilizing more young people, youth-led networks and youth-serving organizations, empowering them to play an active role in the response to AMR. WHO also leads several other awareness raising initiatives and advocacy mechanisms on AMR. These are meant to increase awareness and understanding of AMR among critical stakeholder groups and stimulate action by decision-makers.
