The PGIMER owes its inception to the vision of late Sardar Partap Singh Kairon, the then Chief Minister of Punjab and the distinguished medical educationists of the then combined state of Punjab, supported by the first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru who considered the institutions of scientific knowledge as temples of learning and the places of pilgrimage.

Applications are invited for filling of a JRF under research project entitled, "Identification and validation of exosomal micro-RNAs and their target genes in depression and suicidality" funded by ICMR, New Delhi, under Dr. Prasenjit Mitra, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry, PGIMER, Chandigarh.
Qualification and experience : Qualification : Postgraduate degree in Biochemistry / Biophysics / Biotechnology or any other branch of life sciences from a recognized university with at least 60% marks. Candidate must be qualified in CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship) /GATE/ DBT/ ICMR/INSPIRE/any other National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies and Institutions,
Desirable : Candidates with hands-on experience on molecular biology techniques and with related work experience will be given preference.
Age limit : As per ICMR rules
Emoluments : Rs. 31,000 + 18% HRA (as per ICMR norms)
The post is purely on a contract basis as per the terms and conditions of ICMR, subject to periodic extensions of the project up to a total duration of 3 years or completion of the project, whichever is earlier. The appointment is terminable with one month notice from either side without assigning any reason.
