Established on October 1, 1933 as University Department of Chemical Technology (popularly called UDCT) of the University of Bombay (now Mumbai), with the noble intention of advancing India’s knowledge reserves in chemical science and technology, the Institute has grown to become a premier (deemed) university devoted to education, training, research and industrial collaboration in chemical engineering, chemical technology, applied chemistry, pharmacy, biotechnology and bio-processing. The then UDCT grew in stature over the years and was granted partial autonomy by the University of Mumbai in 1985, which was taken to the next echelon under the concept of autonomy propagated by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Applications are invited for a ‘Project Associate-I’ position for ICMR-DHR sponsored project under Prof. Sadhana Sathaye, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai for a period of three years.
Project title : Evaluation of immunomodulatory and anti-cancer properties of Hydroxychavicol, a major constituent of Piper betel Research Supervisor : Prof. Sadhana Sathaye
Monthly Remuneration (Consolidated) : INR 31,000 + HRA
Duration : 3 years
Eligibility : M.Pharm / M.Tech (Biotechnology, Pharmacology) graduates. Students of M.Pharm / M.Tech (Biotechnology, Pharmacology) who will be submitting the thesis by June 2024 are also eligible to apply. It is mandatory for the applicant to have practical experience in mammalian cell culture.
Job Description
• Perform the project related experiments, develop new techniques and protocols for drug screening using cell culture technology.
• Perform molecular biology experiments, using flow cytometer for cell marker evaluation.
• Analytical techniques including HPLC.
• Animal handling experience and expertise .
Age Limit : 35 years
Registration for a Ph.D. degree under this project is subject to fulfilment of the Institute's academic requirements.
