Post : Correspondent - Health and Pharma

Job description:
In this role, you will write up health stories for a global audience related to varying topics. The stories need to be balanced and objective and to put the news into perspective. Stories tend to be based on research studies and will require you to read up and talk to the authors and outside experts. We don’t want to be disease mongers.  We don’t want to imply that something’s a big advance when it’s really just a baby step. We don’t want to imply causality where it can’t be proved. We try to give absolute risks, not just relative risks. We make sure to explain the limitations of observational studies. Your role requires you to make the stories reader-friendly and conversational. You will get the opportunity to not only broaden your knowledge base, but also your writing ability as the stories will likely require you to parse through the studies and focus on what's interesting and/or actionable for the general public. Stories should draw the eye of ordinary readers while providing enough depth and expertise to interest health professionals.

Responsibilities:
• Leading role in Reuters Health team based in Bangalore
• Full-time role. The work has a deadline component and will require you to tailor your hours to suit the workload
• Reporting to Editor-in-Charge, Health & Pharmaceuticals in Bangalore, with a dotted line to the Reuters Health editor in New York. All copy will be subbed through New York
• Central task is to produce 8-10 well-researched, well-written, newsy pieces of around 600-700 words each week.
