Bharathidasan Institute of Technology (BIT) has been established as a Technical Institute under Anna University, Chennai by the Government of Tamil Nadu and recently sponsored with Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) grant. It offers a variety of UG, PG and research programmes with an approximate of 3000 students in the campus. The Institution works towards developing partnerships with industries and academic institutes to provide quality education and opportunities for entrepreneurial development. The main objective of the institute is to generate a horde of highly creative professionals, who can contribute not only to the Human Resource Development and also to Nation building exercise. BIT has carved a niche for itself in providing technical education in the disciplines that are rare of their kind in our country with a high level of competence.

Department of Pharmaceutical Technology
The department offers a unique UG programme, B.Tech. in Pharmaceutical Technology and PG Programme, M.Tech. in Biopharmaceutical Technology in order to cater the technical human resources needed for the Pharmaceutical and Chemical Industries. The Pharmaceutical Technology professionals are trained and molded by experienced faculties.
The department also offers M.S. (By research) and Ph.D. Programme. Department of Pharmaceutical Technology excels in research activities through centrally sponsored research projects. The department established “National Facility on Drug Development for Academic Institutions, Pharmaceutical and Allied industries” with the support of Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi.

About the Seminar
Novel drug delivery systems (NDDS) are increasingly important in pharmaceutical development and make payment to differentiate drugs and ensure their presence on the market. Currently pharmaceutical industries and research organizations diverse their goal to develop innovative approaches for delivering the drugs effectively in the body and/or augments the capabilities of available technologies to improve their efficiency in the body. It is recently forecasted that the global sales of NDDS market may reach to $196.4 billion by 2014.

Participants are expected to
* Obtain deep understanding of NDDS development and insights into industrialization.
* Get insight into transdermaldrug delivery systems in market.
* Know about solid lipid nanoparticles for active drug targeting.
* Get an idea about nanotechnology for siRNA delivery.
