Objectives of Seminar and Workshop on 3DP:
Growing demand for customized pharmaceutics and medical devices has impacted an upswing in manufacturing in recent years. 3D printing has become one of the most revolutionary and powerful tools serving as a technology of precise manufacturing of individually developed dosage forms, tissue engineering, and disease modeling. The 3D printing of drug delivery systems and medical devices serves as an attractive tool to produce customized products. Since a few years, the concept of 3D-printed drug formulation has commenced.

GUJCOST sponsored National Seminar and Workshop on

“3D Printing Technology in Pharmaceutical and Medical Applications”.

Friday 6th September, 2019

The introduction of additive manufacturing into a clinic reduces the time and costs of medical treatment and improves the success rate of surgeries. It may also lead to the development of new surgical procedures, especially surgeries that are risky and rarely performed. Moreover, 3D printing of highly mimetic models of organs for surgical training can ease and shorten operation time and decrease the intraoperative complications. Simultaneously, additive manufacturing faces several challenges in terms of design parameters control, device performance, the biocompatibility of printed material and sterilization. However, the benefits outweigh the challenges, making this a promising avenue.
