North East Pharmaceutical Convention (NEPC) is a sincere initiative of Pharmacists from all sectors of the Pharmacy Profession of North Eastern states to create a platform for deliberating various issues related to Industry, regulatory, academia, hospital pharmacy and other related fields. North East due to its topographical location and connectivity with South Asian Nations has potential to be a major Pharmaceutical Hub of the country and can have significant contributions to the country export. NEPC is an effort to expose the potential of this region to get transformed into a Pharmaceutical Hub in the country under the Act East Policy launched in Nov 2014 and Make In India policy of the Government of India and thereby parade for North East Industrial Investment Promotion Policy (NEIIPP) to rejuvenate vibrant NE Region. This shall be helpful in creating awareness and more job opportunities for the thousands of aspiring Pharmacy professionals (e.g. D. Pharm, B. Pharm, M. Pharm, Pharm.D, PhD.) of the region. The NEPC is an attempt to evolve collective wisdom of Pharmacy Professionals of the region for formulating newer policies in the relevant fields and for the betterment of the profession and health care system.
North East Pharmaceutical Society is a voluntary organization established in the year 2017 to encompass entire North Eastern states of India, thereby catering its humble services by developing Pharmacy professionalism and also to create an environment for scientific research in Pharmaceutical Science and Technology in this part of the country. The society is working with a vision to ensure quality human resources &its proper utilization to build an excellence in pharmaceutical services thereby protecting the welfare of the public.
Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Pharmaceutical Science (GIPS) was established in the year 2007 as the first non-government pharmacy institute in the state of Assam under the aegis of the Shrimanta Shankar Academy (SSA), a registered service organization set up in the year 1992 to make a significant contribution for social upliftment through education and also to inculcate among the youth a sense of discipline. The Institution is affiliated to Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU), Assam, approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and recognized by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi. In addition, the institute has also been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) in the year 2016.

The abstract will be subjected to peer review by the SSC and the selected abstract shall be published in the abstract book of the convention. In this context, organizing committee of NEPC 2017 have decided to host a Pharma-Expo. This Expo will provide an opportunity to manufacturers/suppliers of pharmaceutical machinery & equipment, biopharmaceutical & medical device, analytical & laboratory instrument and other related pharmaceuticals to display and explore their latest advancement and technology. The Expo will provide an informative platform to the participants/delegatesto observe the latest trends, innovations, technologies in pharmaceuticals and products profile. The Pharma-expo exhibition will cover pharmaceutical professionals across different sectors including manufacturers, executive from industry, academicians, scientist and scholars with a hope to facilitate pharmaceutical manufacturing and research & development activities. Job Fair In the present scenario job fair has become an integral platform to all the job seekers in the Pharmaceutical sector. The Job fair event will provide opportunity to all the delegates who are interested in the ever-expanding world of pharmaceuticals to have a clear cut interaction with the HR managers of various pharmaceutical companies. The main aim of the event is to promote the employability of the aspiring Pharmacy professionals of the region.
Debate Competition North-East Pharma Debate 2017 aims to create awareness among the pharmacy students towards the profession, thereby providing a platform to express their views freely. In this competition there will be Institute level round followed by state level round. The selected participants (for and against the motion) from each state will contest in the final round to be held on 7th May, 2017 at North East Pharmaceutical Convention 2017, Guwahati, Assam.
