The Indian Institute of Science Education & Research (IISER) Mohali was established in 2007 by the Government of India, through the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), to carry out research in frontier areas of science and to provide quality science education at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. The foundation stone was laid on 27^th September 2006 by the Prime Minister of India. The first Director Prof.N Sathyamurthy joined on 18^th June 2007. Classes for the first MS (Int) batch began on 16^th August 2007. The transit campus was inaugurated on 13^th Nov. 2007.

Datia is the district headquarters of the Datia District in north central Madhya Pradesh, a state of Central India. It is an ancient town, mentioned in the Mahabharata ruled by King ‘Dantavakra’.
