Opportunity Profile:
Promote and ensure a safe and healthy work environment.  Establish, implement, and maintain Mylan policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal Environmental,  Health and Safety regulations.

Perform job functions in accordance with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), federal and state laws, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standards, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, health authority regulations, and departmental processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Formulate, implement, and manage the general environmental, health and safety policies, procedures, and programs for Mylan in compliance with local, state, and federal environmental, occupational health, and safety laws, regulations, and statutes.
  2. Conduct studies and analyses of occupational accidents and environmental incidents. Prepare report of findings with recommendations for corrective action.  Investigate incidents and accidents to ascertain causes for use in recommending preventive occupational health and safety measures and developing effective preventive programs.
  3. Gather data for evaluation and assessment of releases into the environment for the purpose of source reduction, pollution prevention and regulatory agency required reporting.  Identify and analyze sources of pollution to determine their effects.
  4. Manage Mylan’s environmental permits and environmental control systems.  Procure and maintain all required modification and operation permits. Manage Mylan’s monitoring, recordkeeping and reporting programs in line with permit requirements. Oversee proper operation and management of the wastewater treatment plant and other environmental control systems.   
  5. Conduct inspections and internal assessments of Mylan’s facilities and various programs to detect existing or potential safety and/or environmental hazards and make recommendation(s) for corrective action or preventive measures.
  6. Manage Mylan’s Hazardous Waste Management Program.  Provide oversight for the efficient and proper management of hazardous wastes generated by laboratories, manufacturing facilities, construction sites and other Mylan operations to ensure environmental compliance with all Local, State and Federal Regulations.
  7. Assist with the creation, establishment, coordination, and facilitation of related training programs in environmental, health & safety practices for administrative, manufacturing, laboratory, and outside service personnel.
  8. Confer with local, State, and Federal regulatory agencies and consultants to determine quality standards and new developments in the environmental, health & safety arena.
  9. Conduct new product evaluations and prepare protective equipment requirements for employees and determne required environmental controls. Consult with various directors, managers, and employees concerning occupational safeguards for product development and manufacturing personnel.
  10. Provide overall management and other duties related to good environmental, occupational health, and safety practices.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 5 years of experience. A Master’s degree (or equivalent) and 4 years of experience preferred.  However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.

Must possess knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA, EPA, PR EQB, DOT, ANSI, and ASTM regulations.  Must possess knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations and various Codes of State Regulations.

Must possess strong organizational, writing, problem definition and solving, reading and interpreting, and communication skills.  Must have the ability to multi-task and have meticulous attention to detail.  Must possess computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Lotus Notes.
