Agharkar Research Institute (ARI) is an autonomous, grant-in-aid research institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Goverment of India. It was established in 1946 by the Maharashtra Association for the Cultivation of Science as MACS Research Institute and renamed as ARI in 1992 in honour and memory of its founder Director, late Professor S.P. Agharkar.

Qualification:
For RA: Essential: (i)1st class M.Sc. & Ph.D. in any area of Life Sciences. Desirable: experience of working with hydra/ hands-on experience in cell and molecular biology. Candidates who have submitted Ph.D. thesis may also apply.
For JRF: Essential: (1) 1st class M.Sc. with Zoology/ Biotechnology/ Any area of life sciences, (2) Clearance of CSIR-UGC-ICMR-DBT exam.
Monthly stipend: RA- Rs.22000/- + HRA, , SRF- Rs.14000/- + HRA, JRF-Rs.12000/- + HRA, RS-Rs.11000/- (fixed)
Age Limit: RA-35 years, JRF-RS-28 years (relaxatble by 5 years for SC&ST/OBC and female candidates).

Note: No T.A. is admissible for attending interview and selected candidate will have no right of appointment against any ARI or funding agency’s post.
In case of non-availability of qualified RA, candidates who have submitted Ph.D. thesis may be considered for lower position of SRF. Also in case of non-availability of qualified JRF, candidates having M.Sc. degree in the above subjects with 55% marks may be considered for Research Studentship.
Candidates fulfilling above conditions may apply in the prescribed format available on the Institute’s website aripune.org., along with attested copies of qualifications, certificates, Passport size photograph, caste certificate issued by competent authority (for reserved category) and application fee of Rs.100/- for RA and Rs.50/- for JRF/RS, payable by Demand Draft only in favor of Agharkar Research Institute, Pune, up to 19.10.2012. The prescribed essential qualifications are bare minimum and mere possession of same will not entitle the candidate to be called for interview. In case number of applications received in response to the advertisement is large, it may not be convenient or possible for the Institute to interview all the candidates. The Institute may restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable limit, on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement.
