The Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (Punjab) has been established through the Central Universities Act 2009 which received the assent of the President of India on 20th March 2009. Its territorial jurisdiction extends to the whole State of Punjab. This newly set up Central University of Punjab (CUP) at Bathinda is poised to write new alphabet on the academic horizon of India. This University is one of the important links in the recently set up chain of Central Universities created in the educationally backward areas of India. Going to be an upwardly mobile organization, it is destined to emerge as a quality provider of teaching and research, knowledge and skills, products and services, attitudes and ethics. It is gearing up to provide proper institutional leadership to the emerging demands of access, equity, relevance and quality in the mainstream University system. It has already flexed its muscles and initiated its first academic session.

The university is offering admission to M.A., M.Sc., LL.M., M.Tech., M.Pharm., M.Phil.-Ph.D. M.A./M.Sc./M.Pharm.-Ph.D. integrated and stand alone Ph.D. Programmes during academic session 2013-14 and invites applications for the post of Assistant Professors in the following centres of studies on purely temporary and contract basis for one year or till the positions are filled up on regular basis whichever is earlier:-

Specialization: Pharmacognosy, Phytochemistry
Centre: Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences
Medium of Instruction : English
Emoluments (Consolidated): NET + Ph.D. : Rs. 42,000/- p.m. M.Tech. (Computer Science Engineering/ Computer Science and Technology) : Rs. 36,000/- p.m.


Minimum Qualifications:
1 Assistant Professor as per UGC minimum qualifications for appointment of Teachers and other academic staff in universities and colleges and measures for the maintenance of standard in higher education 2010. Except for Computer Science & Technology - the essential qualification for Assistant Professors is NET/SLET + Ph.D and for Museology, Archaeology and Conservation – the essential qualification for Assistant Professor is Masters in Museology/Archaeology/Conservation/History of Arts.

a) Essential:
Good academic record with atleast 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/Physically & Visually handicapped candidates) or an equivalent grade of B in the 7 point with letter grade scale at the Master’s degree level, in relevant discipline from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from a foreign University.
* The candidates, who are or have been awarded Ph.D. degree in compliance of the “University Grants Commission (minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph.D. Degree), Regulation 2009, shall be exempt from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET for recruitment and appointment as Assistant Professor”. b) Explanation:
The term ‘good academic record’ would imply the following:
i) At least 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/Physically & Visually handicapped candidates) or an equivalent grade at Master’s degree level.
And
ii) At least 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST/Physically & Visually handicapped candidates) at the graduation level.
Or
At least 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST/Physically & Visually handicapped candidates) in Honours at the graduation level.

Reservation Policy: The University follows Government of India rules for reservations.
 

Procedure to Apply:
* The candidate should download the application form available at website cup.ac.in bring it on the date of interview.
* One set of self attested certificates and other supporting documents are to be attached with the application form. The candidates should bring original certificates at the time of interview.
* The candidates applying for the post of Assistant Professor should submit Five Copies Summary Sheet and the API form (Category III) only. The API form is available at university website.
* Application fee of Rs. 100/- in the form of Demand draft drawn in the favour of Central University of Punjab payable at Bathinda should accompany the application.
* In case of in-service candidates in Government/Semi-Government organizations/Public Sector Undertakings/Autonomous Organizations, the endorsement form must be signed by the employer.
* In case of in-service candidates from Private Sector, acceptance of resignation and relieving letter from the employer at the time of joining must be submitted.
