Assam University came into existence through Assam (Central) University Act, 1989 (Act. No. XIII). It was  established in 1994, since then the University is steadily becoming an excellent centre of learning. The campus, situated in Dargakona, about 20 kms from  Silchar, is set amid sprawling hillocks, a typical landscape in the  North East. The campus  in an area of  600 acres surrounded by lakes and mountains provides  an ideal environment for academic pursuit.

JRF in (Organic chemistry) DBT funded Project for 3 years

Post: Junior Research Fellow (Organic chemistry) DBT

Applications are invited for a JRF post in the Dept. of Chemistry, under DBTs Nano-Mission Programme, in collaboration with the Dept. of Biotechnology, in Assam University (Central University), Silchar, Assam.

The project is titled: Nitronium And Sulphonium Containing Monomeric And Dimeric, Free Base And Metalized Porphyrin-Carbon Nanoparticles: Synthesis, Characterization, And Their Structure Activity Relationships (SAR) In Interpreting Their Roles As Selective Photosensitizers In Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)

It is a major project, for three years, on Cancer Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) which involves interdisciplinary approach. Competent candidates with some background in organic chemistry are requested to mail their applications (along with their CV) to devashish.sengupta@uni.sydney.edu.au. The applications will be entertained till the 15th of January, 2013. Short listed candidates will be called for an interview by the last week of January, 2013 (28th of January, 2013). However, no TA/DA will be entitled for that.

Candidates who are extremely sincere, hardworking and committed to research will be given priority. The DBT norms will be followed for the selection process.

Essential qualification: M.Sc/ M Tec/ M.Pharm (above 55%) in Chemistry/ Biochemistry/ chemical engineering/ Nanotechnology/ Pharmaceuticals. Some background in Organic Chemistry is preferred.

Emolument: JRF Rs.16,000/- + HRA for the 1st two years and Rs 18,000/- + HRA for the 3rd year for SRF and applicable only if JRF/SRF is NET/GATE/BET/BINC qualified, otherwise it shall be Rs 12,000/- +HRA only for the 1st two years (for JRF) and Rs 14,000/- + HRA for the 3rd year (for SRF).
