Established in 1889, the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) is one of the premier research institutions dedicated to livestock research and development of the region. The institute with faculty strength of more than 275 has a major mandate of research, teaching, consultancy and technology transfer activities. The institute with its long scientific heritage has always enjoyed a certain prestige, a tradition all of its own. The institute imparts quality post-graduate education to students not only from various parts of the country, but also from overseas. Today, the institute with its deemed to be university status contributes immensely to human resource development in the discipline of veterinary sciences with skills and knowledge necessary for the challenges of the new millennium. It awards degrees to master and doctoral programmes in more than 20 disciplines of veterinary and animal sciences, livestock products technology, basic sciences and extension education. To impart continuing education to field veterinarians, the institute also conducts diploma courses in veterinary preventive medicine, animal husbandry, veterinary biological products, animal reproduction, poultry husbandry, medicine and surgery, zoo and wild animal health care and management, meat and meat products technology.

Post: Junior Research Fellow

A walk-in-interview is scheduled to be held in the Division of Bacteriology & Mycology, IVRI, Izatnagar, Bareilly on 11.1.2013 at 11.0 AM for engagement of one Junior Research Fellow in DBT-funded project entitled "DBT network project on brucellosis (Sub-project: Development of a genetically engineered live vaccine against brucellosis for animals).". The engagement is purely temporary on contractual basis for a period of three years, up to so" September, 2015 or till the termination of the project by DBT, New Delhi, whichever is earlier. There will be no provision of absorption/reemployment in IVRIIDBT on termination of the project. No TAIDA will be provided for appearing in the interview.

Essential qualifications: Master degree in Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Life sciences and related disciplines with NET/GATE or equivalent qualification.


Desirable: Working knowledge in molecular biology, bacteriology and immunological techniques.

Emoluments: Consolidated Rs. 12,000 (1st and 2nd year) and Rs. 14,000 (3rd year) + 20% HRA.


Age limit: 35 years (relaxation for women and SC/ST/OBC candidates as per Govt, of India norms).

Candidates attending interview should bring a copy of biodata, original certificates and marksheets and two passport size photographs. The applicants may submit a copy of their biodata in advance by post or by mail.
