Post: Senior Scientist (Conjugation)
Job Description:
Hilleman Labs seeks experienced chemist/biochemist with strong vaccine conjugation experience in protein, carbohydrates and other antigens. Ideal candidate must have strong analytical background in chemistry/bioconjugation/bioprocess/analytical development for Senior Scientist (Conjugation).
Aligned with the organization’s vision of providing easy-to- deliver vaccines for the emerging world, this individual will need to bring a comprehensive knowledge of biochemistry/bioconjugation principles and procedures in order to create stable and cost-effective solutions.
In doing so, s/he will work along with the team of scientists to develop a candidate vaccine/s from Preclinical stage to Clinical development
Major Responsibilities
This individual would specifically work with a team and be responsible to:
Lead small team of scientists, that will bring products from Preclinical to Phase II / Manufacturing
In turn this would involve execution across full spectrum of activity leading to the above including:
- Design and perform experiments towards development of conjugation chemistry processes for the production of conjugate vaccine antigens and provide (bioanalytical) assay support for the chemistry group.
- Develop scalable, robust processes for vaccine conjugates.
- Perform lab experiments to define unit operations for the production of vaccine conjugates. These may include optimizing reaction conditions, recovery and purification operations and developing analytical methods to characterize the conjugates.
- Identification of new molecules for conjugation of polysaccharides and protein
- Characterization of polysaccharide-protein conjugates
- Identify and employ new and improved high yielding conjugation method development
- Independently design, organize and perform experiments. Maintain documentation, organize and interpret data, write reports, and present data.
- Display a strong “problem solving” orientation and troubleshooting as and when required.
Candidate Profile:
- This individual should have 8-12 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 of experience in conjugation of polysaccharides and protein in biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical industry.
- A distinguished academic background, demonstrated by a doctorate degree in organic chemistry/ biochemistry / biotechnology or related field
- A track record of having successfully delivered technologically complex projects, and leading and managing these from end to end is important
- Experience of having worked in a similar global culture environment as the one offered at Hilleman Laboratories would be desirable
