This bi institutional DBT project will use state of the art activity guided HPLC purification followed by structure determination of antiplasmodial molecules derived from South Indian Medicinal Plants. Screening of plant extracts and purified molecules will be done in microtiter plate format by ex vivo culture of Plasmodium falciparum strains in human red blood cells and inhibition of growth of malaria parasite will be monitored by SYBR Green based Fluorescence screen and microscopy. Selectivity Indices will be determined by comparing IC50 (Mammalian cell)/IC50 (P.falciparum).
