The University of Saugor later renamed as Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya was established in July 1946 by the great visionary Dr. Sir Harisingh Gour by his single handed donation at Sagar (M.P.). The University is one of the prestigious Universities of central India and achieved the Central University status on January 15, 2009, situated in a rural and sub-urban environment in the heart of the country. The university has been a centre of higher learning. Honorable President of India is its Visitor. Being the sixteenth university of the cou ntry and the first of the state of Madhya Pradesh, the founder and mentor Dr. Gour desired to establish an educational institution for rural and deprived population of Central India. The model of education as conceived by the founder is to bring its standard like Cambridge and Oxford universities.
Ph.D. programme is conducted by various departments of different schools. Admission is subject to availability of seats with faculty me mbers. The number of seats may vary from year to year. Allotment of supervisors, Course Work, Ph.D. Thesis evaluation, etc. would be done as per the Ph.D. program of Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar. The M.Phil./Ph.D. Programme in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standard and Proceedure for Awards of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulation 2009.
Minimum Qualification:
Candidates who have secured at above 55% marks (without rounding off) / 6.0 CGPA in ten point scale (0-9) for General and OBC (NCL) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from Universities / Institutes recognized by UGC are eligible to appear in the Entrance Test. Schedules Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribes (ST) / Physically Challenge d (PC) category students who have secured 50% marks (without rounding off) / 5.0 CGPA in ten point scale (0- 9) in the Master’s degree or equivalent are eligible to appear in the test. The candidate studying in the last semester of the qualifying examination may also apply, but he/she must have to produce final result before the date of interview, failing which his / her candidature will automatically stand cancelled.
