Dibrugarh University, the easternmost University of India was set up in 1965 under the provisions of the Dibrugarh University Act, 1965 enacted by the Assam Legislative Assembly. It is a teaching-cum-affiliating University with limited residential facilities. The University is situated at Rajabheta at a distance of about five kilometres to the south of the premier town of Dibrugarh in the eastern part of Assam as well as India.

Applications in prescribed form are invited from eligible candidates in the following subjects for admission to the Six-Month Pre-Registration Course Work of the Ph.D./ M.Phil Programmes:
Ph.D.: anthropology, Applied Geology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Chemistry, Commerce, Economics, Education, Geography, History, Life-Sciences, Management, Mathematics, Petroleum Technology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Physics, Sociology, Social Work, Statistics.
M.Phil: Assamese, Commerce, Economics, Education, History, Mathematics, Physics, Political Science, Statistics and Sociology.
Eligibility: Post-graduates with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and qualified in DURAT or NET- JRF.
Application Forms can be obtained from the Office of the Deputy Registrar (Academic), Dibrugarh University on payment of Rs. 100/- (Rupees one hundred) only at the University Cash Counter or may be downloaded from the website- dibru.ac.in. Downloaded Application forms shall have to be accompanied by a bank draft of Rs. 100/- drawn in favour of “The Registrar, Dibrugarh University” in State Bank of India, Dibrugarh University Branch (Code No. 2051). Dulyfilled-in application forms shall be received by the Head of the Department or Director of the Centre for Studies concerned till 23.01.2013.
