Pharma Entrance exam for NIPER 2010, Ph.D

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) conducts an admission process for its various PhD. programmes in several disciplines of Pharmaceutical sciences. NIPER is an autonomous body which was established by Department of Pharmaceuticals,Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India. It was declared asInstitute of National Importance by Government of India. The institute has a beautiful and well equipped campus at Mohali.

There will be entrance exam for all PhD programmes which will be conducted only at NIPER campus in Mohali. Those who qualify in the written test will be called for interview after which the selections will be made. The number of candidates called for interview will be 3 times the total number of seats.

Eligibility Criteria:
A candidate should have M.Pharma/MS(Pharma)/Masters in a relevant discipline of Pharmacy or equivalent with atleast 60% aggregate or equivalent. Also the candidate should have valid GATE/NET scores for several disciplines. The eligibility criteria for different programmes varies in terms of the qualifying degree therefore refer to the admission notification for details. Those in their final year can also apply.

How to Apply:
Candidates can obtain the application forms in person or by post by sending a request for the form to NIPER, Mohali. Candidates have to send the filled form along with copies of their NET/GATE scorecard.

Important Dates:
• Date of commencement for issuing Information Brochure: March End, 2010
• Last Date for receipt of request for issue of Information by Post: April 2nd week, 2010
• Last date for issue of application brochure from NIPER: May 1st week, 2010
• Last date for submission of completed application forms: May 1st week, 2010
• Date of Entrance Examination: July 1st week, 2010
• Commencement of program: July 4th week, 2010

Pattern of Examination:
The Entrance Test will be of 2 hours divided in two sections consisting of Multiple Choice Questions. First section will have 85 questions and will be compulsory for all candidates. Second section will have 3 parts and the candidates have to attempt one depending on the discipline in which they want to do their PhD. The second section also has 85 questions in each part. The questions will be from the syllabus of M. Pharma/ MS(Pharma)/MTech(Pharma)/MSc.(Relevant Field). There will be negative marking of 25% for every incorrect answer. For qualified candidates there will be an interview of 15 marks.
