Job Description
The Analyst/Senior Analyst is a non-supervisory position with the Market Intelligence and Analysis (MIA) department within the Strategy and Business Development (SBD) division. The MIA department performs a centralized business analytics and market research function for USP – supporting all levels of the organization including the Executive Team. The Analyst/Senior Analyst performs an integral role in MIA in relation to data collection, modeling, and analysis.  The Analyst/Senior Analyst performs and coordinates various analyses surrounding business problems and partners with manager to make recommendations accordingly.  She or he communicates analytical results to non-technical audiences – translating analyses into concise and clear business recommendations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participates in analytics projects in support of strategic initiatives, business development, and other needs of the organization    
  • Standardizes and structures data files by filtering and “cleaning” data to locate and correct errors in support of analytics projects    
  • Creates, modifies and runs queries using business intelligence tools and databases    
  • Supports analytics and reporting needs of sales staff    
  • Develops ad hoc analyses based on transactional and customer data in support of strategy projects    
  • Contributes to data quality initiatives by executing recommendations for data improvements    
  • Queries data from primary and secondary sources and maintains databases and systems    
  • Supports IT projects and tools that require the input of data    
  • Identifies, analyzes and interprets trends or patterns in complex data sets    
  • Contributes to customer segmentation improvement processes    
  • Examines opportunities for innovation and process improvements    
  • Develops ad hoc reports and analyses as needed    
  • Other duties as assigned

Education
Undergraduate degree required. Preferred majors in chemistry, biology, or other science degree.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be acceptable.

Ability to apply business knowledge to scientific products and services required

Knowledge of USP’s role within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries highly desired
Strong communication skills required: Verbal, written, and interpersonal
Has the ability to explain highly technical or complex issues succinctly to a non-technical audience
Excellent time and project management skills
Has the ability to work at all levels of the organization
Has the ability to work across a global company with remotely located teams
Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
