Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar is one of the eight new IITs set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, to expand the reach and enhance the quality of technical education in the country. This institute is committed to providing state-of-the-art technical education in a variety of fields and also for facilitating transmission of knowledge in keeping with latest developments in pedagogy.

Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a SERB-funded research project with following details:

Title of the project: Acemannan-based nanogels to target microbicides to mucosal and sub-mucosal regions of vagina to prevent HIV-1 infection (funded by the SERB, New Delhi)

Principal Investigator: Dr. Yashveer Singh, Assistant Professor, Room 313, Department of Chemistry, IIT Ropar, Nangal Road, Rupnagar, Punjab-140001, yash@iitrpr.ac.in

Essential qualifications: MSc (Chemistry/Biochemistry); MPharm (Pharmaceutical Sciences); MTech (Nanoscience and Nanotechnology/Materials) or an equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate score (6.5 grade points on a scale of 10). For SC/ST category, the candidate must have secured a minimum of 55% aggregate score (6.0 grade points on a scale of 10) in masters degree. In addition, the candidate must have qualified CSIR/UGC JRF-NET/GPAT/GATE

Age limit: 28 years Salary: As per SERB norms

Duration: Three years or up to the termination of project, subject to annual performance review

Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview and no TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. The position is available immediately

Note: The candidate selected for the position of JRF will have the option to register for PhD program at IIT Ropar. However, for admission to PhD program at IIT Ropar, the candidate must meet eligibility requirements and also qualify the written examination and/or interview.
