The institute is engaged in the development of new drugs and diagnostics in various therapeutic areas like malaria, tuberculosis, filarial, leishmania, cancer, thrombosis, hypertension, dementia, diabetes, lipid disorders, gastric ulcer, osteoporosis, prostatic hyperplasia, etc. supported by very competent team of chemists and biologists. The institute is carrying out pioneering works on cellular and molecular studies to understand these disease processes, systematic evaluation of the medicinal properties of natural products and synthetic molecules, development of technology for drugs, intermediates and biological. The institute also has a robust programme in developing human resource for future requirement of the pharmaceutical industry and R&D institutions.
Sophisticated Analytical Instrument facility (formerly known as Regional Sophisticated Instrumentation Centre- RSIC) at Central Drug Research Institute (CSIR), Lucknow has been providing excellent analytical service for the last 38 years and is one of the first four such facilities set up by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India in mid seventies. The concept of the SAIF at Central Drug Research Institute evolved around the regional needs of scientists and research personnel engaged in research in the chemical and biological sciences. The sophisticated instruments at the centre have been updated from time to time, keeping pace with the advancement of science and technology and the requirements of the users.
Objective of Workshop
The purpose of this workshop is to introduce the participants about the basics of mass spectrometry, multiple applications of direct analysis in real time (DART) mass spectrometry (MS) and initiate lively discussion among veteran research scientists, academicians and budding researchers to share their knowledge and strike collaborations in the frontier areas of chemical sciences. The beginners will get a chance to familiarize themselves with recent developments in the area of mass spectrometry and gain confidence by seeing its applications and data interpretation as done in real situations. The workshop includes both lecture and laboratory sessions. Jeol expert and Dr K P Madhusudanan a pioneer in DARTMS applications in India along with scientists from SAIF will conduct the workshop.
